Analytical modeling and optimal resistance estimation in vibration control of beams with resistively shunted piezoelectrics

A multimodal analytical model is derived for the resistively shunted piezoelectric beam. Optimal resistance is derived from the analytical model, which includes the base damping of the piezoelectric beam. The criterion for the existence of a fixed point in the magnitude plot is presented. The extended-electrode configuration of the piezoceramic is addressed, and incorporated in the analytical model.
