Use of a novel microwave synthetic route for the synthesis of the compound, Cs salt of di-copper substituted phosphotungstate. Characterized and compared with the same compound synthesized by the traditional one-pot synthetic route, indicating that both the compounds are the same. This compound catalyzes epoxidation of cis-cyclooctene with TBHP as the oxidant, with high selectivity for the epoxide (82%). Proposed mechanism indicates radical mechanism initiated by one Cu(II) and the unpaired electron on the other Cu(II) is delocalised between the two coppers.
