We develop a backup sourcing strategy through capacity reservation contract under supply disruptions. The buyer’s optimal sourcing decisions as well as the backup supplier’s optimal reservation price are derived. Different disruption levels are integrated and their impacts are investigated. The effects of flexible backup capacity with MOQ constraint on the contract terms are examined. We show that the both the buyer and the backup supplier may benefit from the MOQ constraints.
