Synthesis and characterization of screen printed ZnO films for solar cell applications

In this paper we report structural, optical and electrical properties of ZnO film prepared by screen-printing followed by sintering route. Characterization of the sample was carried out with UV-spectroscopy, XRD, SEM, FTIR and two probe measurements. The XRD and SEM studies reveal that the film deposited is polycrystalline, single phase, porous and granular in nature. Vibration mode of ZnO was observed in the absorption band in the FTIR spectrum. Optical absorption spectroscopy and DC conductivity measurements give optical band gap of 3.12 eV and semiconducting nature with activation energy of 0.27 eV.
