A numerical model based on recharge rate to estimate debris flow volume provides reasonable results. Modeled debris flow volumes are 0.5 × of field values and reasons for this difference are explored. Model-derived erosion rate for debris flows is 0.031 mm year− 1, which is similar to field-based values. The numerical model is found to be sensitive to recharge rate to debris flow gullies.
