Junior research faculty are modest at most nursing schools. Deans report widespread deficiencies in new researchers. Role expectations of junior research faculty vary widely. Addressing resources, initial training, and role expectations may advance nursing research. Identifying how other scientific disciplines support beginning researchers may suggest new models.
