Child poisoning due to tobacco ingestion or exposure is a public health concern. We summarized literature on effects of special packaging on health and behavior. Special packaging makes products more difficult to access. Special packaging requirements have been linked to reductions in child mortality. Special packaging could reduce tobacco product poisonings among children.
