Extremely calorie-restricted yeast cultures homogeneously express heat shock proteins. Sustained calorie restriction prevents formation of actin bodies in yeast. HSP12 and HSP26 transcript levels correlate with cell size in yeast. Calorie-restricted, non-dividing yeast do not differentiate into (non)quiescent cells.
