Conducted a longitudinal test of social cognitive predictors of adjustment to engineering majors
Adjustment was operationalized as academic satisfaction, persistence, and performance.
A bidirectional model offered good fit to the data in predicting academic persistence.
Self-efficacy and objective ability were found to jointly predict grade performance.
The findings were stable across gender and racial/ethnic groups.
