Conspecific and heterospecific social groups affect each other's resource use: a study on roost sharing among bat colonies

文摘
We investigate roost usage in five sympatric bat colonies belonging to three species. Behaviour towards roosts of heterospecifics varied strongly between species. Roosts of heterospecifics were either ignored or specifically selected for occupation. Conspecific colonies avoided occupying each other's roosts. Our results shed light on resource sharing of distinct social groups.
