Hydrological and geochemical processes constraining groundwater salinity in wetland areas related to evaporitic (karst) systems. A case study from Southern Spain
Hydrogeochemical processes occurring in a evaporite-karst were investigated. The evolution of groundwater and the origin of brine springs was studied. Stable isotope analysis permitted to assess the wetland-groundwater relationship. Inverse geochemical modelling was used to identify the main geochemical processes. A hydrogeological-geochemical conceptual model has been proposed for the study area.
