Introduction

Risk factors and associated pathologies are variable depending on the location of the aorta disease.

Patients and methods

Observational and retrospective study (151 consecutive patients with periodical check-up or admitted for surgery, in our Cardiovascular Surgery Department in the last year).

Results

In thoracic locations (n = 57), the 18-50 age group (26.3 % ) and inherited disorders (10.5 % ) got a statistical significance compared to abdominal locations (n = 94), which were associated to 70-90 age group (57.4 % ), male (97.9 % ), smoking (85.1 % ), dyslipidemia (60.6 % ) and symptomatic coronary heart disease (33 % ). The last three were also associated in multivariate analysis.

Conclusions

Our results show the existence of different cardiovascular risk profiles for each one of the locations of aorta disease.
