Using long-term air monitoring of semi-volatile organic compounds to evaluate the uncertainty in polyurethane-disk passive sampler-derived air concentrations
Air concentrations (Cair) were calculated using long-term passive sampler monitoring. Cair for gas-phase SVOCs were within 2–3 times of active air sampler measurements. Cair for particle-phase PAHs were up to 23 time less than active air measurements. Particle infiltration into the passive sampler adds uncertainty to Cair but is not well understood. Estimation of particle-bound fraction of PAHs could contribute to Cair uncertainty.
