Asiaticoside-rich fraction obtained from the ethanol extract of Centella asiatica aerial parts was not toxic to the human dermal fibroblast (HDF) and human dermal keratinocyte (HaCaT) cells. No IC50 was recorded at doses between 0.19 and 100 μg/mL as cell viability was maintained above 80%. Asiaticoside-rich fraction exerted significant effect on HDF and HaCaT in the in vitro 12-well plate scratch assay. Asiaticoside-rich fraction applied topically (in the concentration strength of 2.5%, 10% and 40%; w/w) demonstrated significant wound healing in the in vivo circular wound excision of rabbits.
