Roughening the fibre surface increases the sensitivity and lowers the limit of detection of evanescent fibre optic transducer. Zinc 5-(4-carboxyphenyl),10,15,20-triphenyl) porphyrin thin film does not respond to waterborne amine at pH below 6. Zinc 5-(4-carboxyphenyl),10,15,20-triphenyl) porphyrin thin film responses to waterborne amine and the best analytical wavelength is 446 nm at pH above 7.
