Shrinkage-induced cracking in cement-based slabs is investigated and quantified. Measurements of crack length, width, and density were performed. Drying shrinkage developed few, randomly distributed cracks in unrestrained specimens. Restrained slabs developed perpendicular cracks with respect to the drying surface. Cracks widths increase and new branches grew up with further drying.
