Mitochondrial dysfunction in conjunction with altered mitochondrial dynamics drives aging. Spontaneous errors of replication cause mtDNA point mutations, deletions and depletions. Clonally expanded mtDNA mutations lead to mitochondrial dysfunction. ROS does not appear to be a critical factor in aging.
