A population balance framework based on the SQMOM to model a Kühni extraction column. A new steady state algorithm for solving the column transport equations at steady state based on the SQMOM. An analytical solution based on the algebraic velocity model is derived to calculate the mean droplet velocity. The SQMOM can predict the droplet distribution as well as its integral properties.
