Brace stiffness demands increase as a nonlinear function of the number of members supported. Simple expressions for computing brace stiffness in systems of compression members are provided. Elastic and inelastic buckling of compression members in frames and trusses is investigated. Accuracy confirmed by extensive use of finite element analyses to determine critical loads.
