Few studies have explored why social anxiety is related to suicidality. Thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness are related to suicidality. Social anxiety was robustly related to thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness. Social anxiety was indirectly related to suicidality via these factors. The sum of these indirect effects was significant.
