First complete genome sequence of a species in the genus Microterricola, an extremophilic cold active enzyme producing bacterial strain ERGS5:02 isolated from Sikkim Himalaya

This is the first ever genome sequence of any species of bacteria in the genus Microterricola.

The pale yellow bacterium survived low temperature and exhibited enhanced growth upon UV treatment in addition to produce cold active enzymes.

Genome comprised a circular chromosome (3,689,726 bp) with 60.64% GC, 3456 predicted coding sequences and 64 RNAs.

The genomic insight provided basis for survival at low temperature and UV radiation apart from its industrial bioprospection.

Genomic data may represent as a model to study the robust DNA repair system against radiation damage.
