Malachite structured materials effectively catalyzed direct conversion of syngas to dimethyl ether (DME).

MgO promoted DME yield and minimized CO2 and lower hydrocarbon by-products.

As-synthesized recyclable catalysts have the potential to improve the economy of DME production technology.
