This paper deals with optical bistability and transmission of a nano Fabry-Perot (FP)-resonator which includes two reflectors consisting of one dimensional periodic slabs with negative and positive index materials, and a nanocavity sandwiched between the reflectors. At first, we analyze transmission of the linear FP-resonator with transfer matrix method in optical regime and then, we incorporate gain in nanocavity and investigate the influence of it on transmission. Finally, we study optical bistability in this structure compared to the case with conventional media and the effect of frequency on its hysteresis. According to the results, this structure can be used as an optical switching device and also can be utilize for nanolasers.
