Influence of aluminium source on the crystal structure and framework coordination of Al and Si in fly ash-based zeolite NaA

Synthesis of fly ash-based zeolite NaA using two aluminium sources is studied. The aluminium sources give rise to different Al and Si arrangement in the zeolite structure. Formation of both tetrahedral and distorted coordination is obtained from synthesis mixture with low Si/Al ratio. Crystal growth is a function of the synthesis Si/Al ratio. Crystal size is correlated with crystallinity and Si NMR peak width and area.
