The effect of hypoxia on lymphatic development is unclear. In zebrafish, hypoxia inhibited the development of the lymphatic thoracic duct. Expression of lymphangiogenic factors were inhibited by hypoxia. Hypoxia has opposite effects on vascular and lymphatic system development.
