Effects of operational parameters on fouling of ceramic membranes during microfiltration of titanium white acid are studied. Based on resistance-in-series model, the total filtration resistance (Rt) is divided into four parts: polarization resistance (Rp), cake resistance (Rc), internal plugging resistance (Ri) and membrane's own resistance (Rm). Their values and the relative percentages as a function of the operating parameters is determined. The mass of cake (Mc) is measured and average specific resistance of cake (αc) is also calculated for the further analysis of the change of Rc. The study will provide theoretical foundations for taking necessary actions to avoid or reduce fouling.
