Backstepping sliding mode control for maximum power point tracking of a photovoltaic system

We present the electrical characteristics of a PV module. We develop a backstepping sliding mode controller for maximum power point tracking. We study the stability of the proposed approach. The approach has a good transition response, a low tracking error and a very fast reaction against solar irradiation variations. The presented method provides faster responses than the terminal sliding mode controller.
