We evaluated a novel method of determining the impact of renal function recovery on graft survival using the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) slope after kidney transplantation (GAP classification), and compared this to the conventional classification.
We used data from more than 500 patients to develop the cut-off slope criteria, and then used these values to validate our findings in an additional 495 kidney transplant patients.
Overall, our GAP classification method outperformed traditional methods of evaluating renal recovery on graft survival.
