The synthesis and structural characterization of the two novel unsolvated and monomeric heteroleptic mono tris(pyrazolyl)borate rare-earth compounds DanipLn(Tp)Cl (1: Ln = Sm; 2: Ln = Yb) by simple salt metathesis reaction of DanipLi, LnCl3, and KTp is reported (Danip = 2,6-di(o-anisol)phenyl); Tp = tris(pyrazolyl)borate). DanipYb(Tp)Cl (2) reacts with an equimolar amount of LiCH2SiMe3 to give the heteroleptic mono(alkyl) compound DanipYb(Tp)CH2SiMe3 (3).
