Abalone shell changed to brown-red by including 5% dried Gracilaria cliftonii in the diet. The inclusion of ≥ 10% dried G. cliftonii meal intensifies the green colour of the lip. Inclusion of Ulva sp. meal in formulated diet had little impact on abalone colour. The β-carotene content in abalone fed dried macroalgae meal was enhanced.
