Land use/cover changes in two capitals and their hinterland were examined. Most urbanization occurred on agricultural land with good accessibility. We demonstrated data differences between the official statistics and Urban Atlas data. Coupling of Urban Atlas data with cadastral statistics helps to identify processes of the city change.
