Radiometric, isotopic, and petrographic evidence of changing interglacials over the past 550,000 years from six stalagmites from the Serra do Courel in the Cordillera Cantábrica of northwestern Spain
文摘
Six stalagmites deposited in interglacial stages (MIS 1, 5, 7, 13) but not glacials. Stalagmites are most effectively a record of wet versus dry. During interglacials, drier conditions when warmer and wetter when cooler. Stalagmite records support pollen-based records of Eemian and MIS 5c climate. Drier during coldest glacial and warmest interglacial times; wetter in intermediate.
