The venom proteomes of Guatemalan palm-pitvipers are reported. The venom proteome of the Honduran palm-pitviper, B. marchi, is described. Venom ontogenetic changes of Costa Rican B. schlegelii and B. lateralis were characterized. Genus-wide venomics illustrate the high evolvability of palm-pitviper venoms. Venomic data support an adaptive value for the variability of palm-pitviper venoms.
