bSSFP sequence has properties analogous to CEST/off-resonance T1ρ experiments. Effective field description is provided for bSSFP experiment. bSSFP can create contrast based on chemical exchange, analogous to CEST/T1ρ (bSSFPX). Proof-of-principle bSSFPX is demonstrated in choline, glucose and glycogen phantoms.
