Large Eddy Simulation and investigation on the flow structure of the cascading cavitation shedding regime around 3D twisted hydrofoil

Cascading shedding regime of cavitation on 3D hydrofoil is investigated using LES. Cavity shape evolution and interlaced vortex structure of experiment were computed. Interaction of re-entrant and side-entrant jets causes convex and cascading cavity. Double peaks of lift or drag are caused by cavity break-up and ultimate collapse. Relation of cavity size change and pressure disturbance is analytically clarified.
