Ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt with skull defects may cause sinking skin flap syndrome.
If bilateral cranioplasty and VP shunt is required, simultaneous or two-step procedures within few days may be better.
Cranioplasty is effective for the treatment of sinking skin flap syndrome.
