BDNF modulates the association between neonatal pain/stress & cortisol levels. ↑ pain/stress associated with ↓ hair, ↑ reactivity cortisol in boys with BDNF Met. Salivary cortisol reactivity −ve correlated with IQ & visual-motor integration. Met allele may increase vulnerability to neonatal pain/stress sex-dependently.
