Truancy and delinquency share a multiple factors. Adolescents with punitive parents are at greater risk for truancy than delinquency. Age differentiates between truancy and delinquency, but is not predictive. Unexpectedly, substance use did not differentiate between truancy and delinquency. Parental punishment should be taken into account for truancy treatment.
