We investigate the volume changes of brainstem regions in MDD using the FreeSurfer. Medulla oblongata, pons, midbrain, and superior cerebellar peduncle were included. Drug-naïve patients had greater brainstem volumes compared to healthy controls. Remitted patients had reduced pons and midbrain volumes compared to healthy controls.
