Reaction rate between oxidized redox mediator and Li2O2 is the speed-limiting step of the redox shuttle mechanism. Solvation of Li2O2 enhances the efficiency of redox shuttle mechanism. N-butanol has the proper proton activity to activate Li2O2 without triggering disproportionation. Li2O2-graphite cell is designed to avoid fake reversible capacity from unlimited Li anode.
