We present a survey of state-of-the-art electronic health services (EHS) research focusing on the security, privacy, and integrity aspects. We categorize state-of-the-art studies according to their architecture, access control, emergency cases, sharing, search, and anonymity techniques. We consider components, characteristics, and challenges of e-health services. We systematically analyze and evaluate the systems with a method-based approach, and lay out a comprehensive survey of cryptographic approaches of EHS. We identify relevant open problems and provide future research directions for enhancing security and privacy of EHS.
