C="/images/gifchars/beta2.gif" BORDER=0 ALIGN="middle">-Cyclodextrin (CD)-modified micellar electrokinetic chromatography(MEKC) was applied toenantiomeric separation of Dns(dansyl-derivatized)-DL-amino acids with sodium dodecylsulfate(SDS). Increase in the pH value and SDS concentration of thebackground electrolyte (BGE) buffersolution was found to prolong the migration time and improve theresolution (Rs) of Dns-DL-aminoacids. Rs of each DL-amino acid was <1.0 when 100 mMSDS/75 mM chars/beta2.gif" BORDER=0 ALIGN="middle">-cyclodextrin/250 mM borate(pH 8.3) was utilized as BGE buffer. However, as the pH value ofthe BGE buffer was increased to9.5, all DL-amino acids, except for DL-serineand DL-alanine, were completely separated intotwoindividual peaks. The separation was further enhanced when the SDSconcentration was raised to150 and 200 mM. Dns-D-amino acids were found to beeluted initially when compared to thecorresponding Dns-L-amino acids, indicating the relativelystronger interaction between Dns-D-amino acids and chars/beta2.gif" BORDER=0 ALIGN="middle">-CD.Keywords: Enantiomeric separation; Dns-DL-amino acid;chars/beta2.gif" BORDER=0 ALIGN="middle">-cyclodextrin; micellar electrokineticchromatography
