Large-scale monochlorination of 4-aminoacetophenone usingiodobenzene dichloride is described. Special emphasis wasgiven to the characterization of the iodobenzene dichloride andto the development of a practical procedure for handling thisagent from the viewpoint of hazards. This process wassuccessfully scaled up in a pilot plant.
