Electrochemical reduction of phosphole P-W(CO)₅ complexes affords the free phospholes in goodyields. This technique allows the decomplexation of a2-ethoxy-4-keto-4,5-dihydrophosphole, which has beencharacterized by X-ray crystal structure analysis of itsP-sulfide.
