An expedient new route to the cationic [(PNPtBu)Rh(L)]+ metal fragments (PNPtBu = 魏3-NCb>5b>Hb>3b>-2,6-(CHb>2b>P tBub>2b>)b>2b>; L = CO, acetone, ethene, MeCN, Nb>2b>) by the synthesis of, then substitution of PCyb>3b> in, [(PNPtBu)Rh(PCyb>3b>)][BArFb>4b>] is reported. This synthetic route also allows for the synthesis of the new dihydrogen complex [(PNPtBu)Rh(Hb>2b>)][BArFb>4b>]. [(PNPR)Rh(PCyb>3b>)][BArFb>4b>] (R= Ph, Cy, Mes) are also reported, in which the PCyb>3b> ligand is more tightly bound to the metal center.
