The isolation, characterization and reactivity of a T-shaped rhodium(I) complex containing Glorius鈥?bioxazoline derived N-heterocyclic carbene ligand IBioxMeb>4b> is described: [Rh(IBioxMeb>4b>)b>3b>][BArFb>4b>] (<b>1b>). <b>1b> represents a rare example of a solution-stable 鈥渘aked鈥?14-electron complex and is characterized in the solid state by highly distorted ligand geometries and Rh路路路C distances >3.1 脜 for the IBioxMeb>4b> alkyl substituents. Consistent with the bulky nature of the NHC ligand, no reaction was observed with excess IBioxMeb>4b>, PCyb>3b>, or norbornadiene. Reaction of <b>1b> with CO, however, led to coordinatively saturated [Rh(IBioxMeb>4b>)b>3b>(CO)][BArFb>4b>] (<b>2b>).
