The intrazeolite photooxygenations of four diarylethylenes have been examined. Several intermediates, including an epoxide, have been identifiedby comparison to independently synthesized samples. Aldehyde intermediates were shown to undergo intrazeolite Norrish type I cleavagesin competition with a novel new photooxygenation/autoxidation reaction.
