By elemental analyses of extracts from industrially producedmaterial, X-ray diffraction studieson single crystals and powders, and critical evaluations of theprevious literature, it is shownthat the compound variously reported or assumed to beMg₃Ca(SO₄)₄ in previousstudies is actuallyMg₂Ca(SO₄)₃ and that thisfinding is not only reasonable, but was to be expected.
