We report the synthesis and structural characterization of two dispiro co
mpounds. These two positional iso
mers have been designed andsynthesized through an efficient
method. Because of the rigidity and orthogonality of the spiro bridge, both
molecules exhibit a well-definedarchitecture which consists of two fluorene rings connecting to an indenofluorenyl unit via two sp
3 carbon ato
ms. The structural, electroche
mical,optical, and ther
mal properties of these dispiro iso
mers are discussed.
