The possibility of HO₂ formation and its diffusion into the gas phase during the photocatalytic degradationof methy ethyl ketone (MEK) on TiO₂ has been studied using the very sensitive and selective detectionmethod of continuous wave cavity ring down spectroscopy (cw-CRDS), coupled to a continuous photolysisreactor. No HO₂ radicals could be detected, given a detection limit of 3.2 × 10⁹ cm^-3.
